Quran 80, Abasa (He Frowned)

80:1He frowned and turned away

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّى

80:2Because the blind man came unto him.

أَنْ جَاءَهُ الْأَعْمَى

80:3What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)

وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكَّى

80:4Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him?

أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنْفَعَهُ الذِّكْرَى

80:5As for him who thinketh himself independent,

أَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنَى

80:6Unto him thou payest regard.

فَأَنْتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّى

80:7Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace).

وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّى

80:8But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose

وَأَمَّا مَنْ جَاءَكَ يَسْعَى

80:10From him thou art distracted.

فَأَنْتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّى
