Unbelievers
Plotting full verses back to top
Remember when the disbelievers plotted against you, to imprison, kill, or expel you. They plotted, but Allah also plotted
When Our verses are recited to them, they say, “We have heard this before. If we wanted, we could say something similar. These are just ancient tales.”
They say, “O Allah, if this is truly from You, then rain down stones upon us or bring us a painful punishment.”
But Allah would not punish them while you were among them, nor would He punish them while they sought forgiveness.
Yet what prevents Him from punishing them now? They hinder others from the Sacred Mosque, though they are not its rightful guardians. Its true guardians are the righteous, but most of them do not know.

If those who disbelieved had fought you, they would have turned and fled, finding no protector or helper.
It is He who withheld their hands from you and your hands from them in the valley of Mecca, after He gave you the upper hand over them.
When those who disbelieved filled their hearts with pride, the pride of ignorance, Allah sent down His tranquillity upon His Messenger and upon the believers, and bound them to the word of mindfulness, to which they were most entitled and worthy.

Fruit Pickers full verses back to top
We tested them as We tested the owners of the garden, when they swore to harvest its fruit in the morning
Without saying, “If Allah wills.”
So a calamity from your Lord swept over it while they slept
And by morning, it lay barren and scorched.
They called out to one another at dawn
“Go early to your field, if you are to reap.”
So, they set out, whispering to each other
“Let no poor person enter it today.”
They went early, determined in their resolve.
But when they saw it, they said, “We are lost!”
“No, rather, we are deprived!”
The most reasonable among them said, “Did I not tell you to glorify Allah?”
They said, “Glory be to our Lord! We were truly wrongdoers.”
Then they turned on each other, blaming one another.
They said, “Woe to us! We were indeed arrogant.”
“Perhaps our Lord will give us something better in its place. We turn to Him in hope.”
