One Community

Humanity was once a single community, but they later differed. Had it not been for a prior decree from your Lord, their disputes would have been settled.

10:19Mankind were but one community; then they differed; and had it not been for a word that had already gone forth from thy Lord it had been judged between them in respect of that wherein they differ.

They did not divide except after knowledge had come to them, out of rivalry among themselves. Had it not been for a decree from your Lord, judgment would have been settled between them. Indeed, those who inherited the Scripture after them remain in grave doubt about it.

42:14And they were not divided until after the knowledge came unto them, through rivalry among themselves; and had it not been for a Word that had already gone forth from thy Lord for an appointed term, it surely had been judged between them. And those who were made to inherit the Scripture after them are verily in hopeless doubt concerning it.

Had your Lord willed, all humanity would have been united in faith. But they continue to differ

11:118And if thy Lord had willed, He verily would have made mankind one nation, yet they cease not differing,

Except those upon whom your Lord has shown mercy. For this, He created them

11:119Save him on whom thy Lord hath mercy; and for that He did create them. And the Word of thy Lord hath been fulfilled: Verily I shall fill hell with the jinn and mankind together.

Thus, We have sent you to a community, just as We sent messengers before, though they reject the Most Merciful. Say, “He is my Lord; there is no Allah but Him. In Him I place my trust, and to Him is my return.”

13:30Thus We send thee (O Muhammad) unto a nation, before whom other nations have passed away, that thou mayst recite unto them that which We have inspired in thee, while they are disbelievers in the Beneficent. Say: He is my Lord; there is no Allah save Him. In Him do I put my trust and unto Him is my recourse.
