Questioned

To whoever wills to move forward or hold back.

74:37Unto him of you who will advance or hang back.

Every soul is held in pledge for what it has earned

74:38Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds;

Except the people of the right

74:39Save those who will stand on the right hand.

In gardens, asking one another

74:40In gardens they will ask one another

About the guilty:

74:41Concerning the guilty:

So, no intercession will benefit them now.

74:48The mediation of no mediators will avail them then.

Then what is the matter with them, turning away from the reminder

74:49Why now turn they away from the Admonishment,

As if they were startled donkeys

74:50As they were frightened asses

Fleeing from a lion?

74:51Fleeing from a lion?

Each one of them wants to be given scrolls unrolled.

74:52Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah).

No! They do not fear the Hereafter.

74:53Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter.

Do you make your denial your sustenance?

56:82And make denial thereof your livelihood?

Then, when the soul reaches the throat

56:83Why, then, when (the soul) cometh up to the throat (of the dying)

And you watch helplessly

56:84And ye are at that moment looking

Then why, if you truly believe you won’t be held to account?

56:86Why then, if ye are not in bondage (unto Us),

Then bring the soul back, if you are truthful.

56:87Do ye not force it back, if ye are truthful?
