Private Conversation
Whenever a new reminder comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in mockery.
21:2Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play,
Their hearts are distracted, and the wrongdoers whisper among themselves, “Is this not just a human like you? Will you fall for magic while you see it clearly?”
21:3With hearts preoccupied. And they confer in secret. The wrong-doers say: Is this other than a mortal like you? Will ye then succumb to magic when ye see (it)?
Their hearts are distracted, and the wrongdoers whisper among themselves, “Is this not just a human like you? Will you fall for magic while you see it clearly?”
21:4He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower.
But if they turn away, say, “I have warned you plainly. I do not know whether what you are promised is near or far.”
21:109But if they are averse, then say: I have warned you all alike, although I know not whether nigh or far is that which ye are promised.
Whenever a new reminder comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in mockery.
58:7Hast thou not seen that Allah knoweth all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth? There is no secret conference of three but He is their fourth, nor of five but He is their sixth, nor of less than that or more but He is with them wheresoever they may be; and afterward, on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they did. Lo! Allah is Knower of all things.
“He knows what is spoken aloud and what you conceal.”
21:110Lo! He knoweth that which is said openly, and that which ye conceal.
Do they think We do not hear their whispers and secret talks? Our messengers are recording.
43:80Or deem they that We cannot hear their secret thoughts and private confidences? Nay, but Our envoys, present with them, do record.
They swore by Allah with their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would be more guided than any other nation. But when a warner came, it only increased their aversion
35:42And they swore by Allah, their most binding oath, that if a warner came unto them they would be more tractable than any of the nations; yet, when a warner came unto them it aroused in them naught save repugnance,
Out of arrogance in the land and plotting evil. But evil plotting only traps its authors. Are they waiting for anything but the fate of those before them?
35:43(Shown in their) behaving arrogantly in the land and plotting evil; and the evil plot encloseth but the men who make it. Then, can they expect aught save the treatment of the folk of old? Thou wilt not find for Allah's way of treatment any substitute, nor wilt thou find for Allah's way of treatment aught of power to change.
Have they not travelled the earth and seen the fate of those before them, who were stronger than them?
35:44Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them, and they were mightier than these in power? Allah is not such that aught in the heavens or in the earth escapeth Him. Lo! He is the Wise, the Mighty.
They marvel that a warner has come from among them, saying, “This is a deceiving magician.”
38:4And they marvel that a warner from among themselves hath come unto them, and the disbelievers say: This is a wizard, a charlatan.
We know best what they listen to when they secretly conspire, the wrongdoers say, “You follow only a bewitched man.”
17:47We are Best Aware of what they wish to hear when they give ear to thee and when they take secret counsel, when the evil-doers say: Ye follow but a man bewitched.
Do they not know that Allah knows their secrets and whispers?
9:78Know they not that Allah knoweth both their secret and the thought that they confide, and that Allah is the Knower of Things Hidden?
Have you not seen those who were forbidden secret meetings yet persist in them, whispering about sin, hostility, and defiance of the Messenger?
58:8Hast thou not observed those who were forbidden conspiracy and afterward returned to that which they had been forbidden, and (now) conspire together for crime and wrongdoing and disobedience toward the messenger? And when they come unto thee they greet thee with a greeting wherewith Allah greeteth thee not, and say within themselves: Why should Allah punish us for what we say? Hell will suffice them; they will feel the heat thereof - a hapless journey's end!
Secret meetings are only from Satan, meant to grieve the believers. Yet he cannot harm them unless Allah permits. Let the believers trust in Allah.
58:10Lo! Conspiracy is only of the devil, that he may vex those who believe; but he can harm them not at all unless by Allah's leave. In Allah let believers put their trust.
There is little good in their secret talks
4:114There is no good in much of their secret conferences save (in) him who enjoineth almsgiving and kindness and peace-making among the people. Whoso doeth that, seeking the good pleasure of Allah, We shall bestow on him a vast reward.
