Spending

Those who give in charity and do not follow it with reminders or harm will have their reward with their Lord, no fear shall be upon them, nor shall they grieve.

2:262Those who spend their wealth for the cause of Allah and afterward make not reproach and injury to follow that which they have spent; their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them, neither shall they grieve.

2:274Those who spend their wealth by night and day, by stealth and openly, verily their reward is with their Lord, and their shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

13:22Such as persevere in seeking their Lord's Countenance and are regular in prayer and spend of that which We bestow upon them secretly and openly, and overcome evil with good. Theirs will be the sequel of the (heavenly) Home,

14:31Tell My bondmen who believe to establish worship and spend of that which We have given them, secretly and publicly, before a day cometh wherein there will be neither traffick nor befriending.

35:29Lo! those who read the Scripture of Allah, and establish worship, and spend of that which We have bestowed on them secretly and openly, they look forward to imperishable gain,

Those who respond to their Lord, establish prayer, and conduct their affairs through mutual consultation, spending from what We have provided them.

42:38And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them,

Give from what We have provided them.

2:3Who believe in the Unseen, and establish worship, and spend of that We have bestowed upon them;

32:16Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them.

Those who give in both ease and hardship, who restrain their anger, and who forgive others.

3:134Those who spend (of that which Allah hath given them) in ease and in adversity, those who control their wrath and are forgiving toward mankind; Allah loveth the good;

They ask you what they should spend. Say, ‘Whatever you give should be for parents, relatives, orphans, the needy, and travellers.

2:215They ask thee, (O Muhammad), what they shall spend. Say: that which ye spend for good (must go) to parents and near kindred and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer. And whatsoever good ye do, lo! Allah is Aware of it.

Give orphans their wealth and do not substitute the good with the bad. Do not consume their property by mixing it with your own; this is a grave sin.

4:2Give unto orphans their wealth. Exchange not the good for the bad (in your management thereof) nor absorb their wealth into your own wealth. Lo! that would be a great sin.

Do not entrust the immature with your wealth, which Allah has made a means of sustenance. Provide for them, clothe them, and speak to them with kindness.

4:5Give not unto the foolish (what is in) your (keeping of their) wealth, which Allah hath given you to maintain; but feed and clothe them from it, and speak kindly unto them.

Those who, when they spend, are neither wasteful nor stingy, but take a balanced approach.

25:67And those who, when they spend, are neither prodigal nor grudging; and there is ever a firm station between the two;

Listen, obey, and give for your own good. Whoever is protected from the stinginess of their soul, it is they who will succeed.

64:16So keep your duty to Allah as best ye can, and listen, and obey, and spend; that is better for your souls. And whoso is saved from his own greed, such are the successful.

Spend in the cause of Allah, but do not let your own hands lead to destruction. Do good.

2:195Spend your wealth for the cause of Allah, and be not cast by your own hands to ruin; and do good. Lo! Allah loveth the beneficent.

Spend from what He has entrusted to you. Those who believe and give will have a great reward.

57:7Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend of that whereof He hath made you trustees; and such of you as believe and spend (aright), theirs will be a great reward.

Give from what We have provided them.

2:3Who believe in the Unseen, and establish worship, and spend of that We have bestowed upon them;

32:16Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them.

O believers, give from the good things you have earned and from what We have produced for you from the earth. Do not choose the inferior portions for charity, things you would not accept yourselves except with reluctance.

2:267O ye who believe! Spend of the good things which ye have earned, and of that which We bring forth from the earth for you, and seek not the bad (with intent) to spend thereof (in charity) when ye would not take it for yourselves save with disdain; and know that Allah is Absolute, Owner of Praise.

But among the desert Arabs are those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and consider what they spend as a means of nearness to Allah and the Messenger’s prayers. Indeed, it brings them closer, Allah will admit them into His mercy.

9:99And of the wandering Arabs there is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day, and taketh that which he expendeth and also the prayers of the messenger as acceptable offerings in the sight of Allah. Lo! verily it is an acceptable offering for them. Allah will bring them into His mercy. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

The desert Arabs who stayed behind will say, “Our wealth and families kept us busy, so ask forgiveness for us.” They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say: Who can protect you from Allah if He intends harm or benefit for you?

48:11Those of the wandering Arabs who were left behind will tell thee: Our possessions and our households occupied us, so ask forgiveness for us! They speak with their tongues that which is not in their hearts. Say: Who can avail you aught against Allah, if He intend you hurt or intend you profit? Nay, but Allah is ever Aware of what ye do.

No, you thought the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and that thought pleased your hearts. You harboured evil assumptions, and you were a ruined people.

48:12Nay, but ye deemed that the messenger and the believers would never return to their own folk, and that was made fairseeming in your hearts, and ye did think an evil thought, and ye were worthless folk.

And when they’re told, “Give from what Allah has provided you,” the disbelievers say to the believers, “Should we feed those whom Allah could have fed if He wanted? You’re clearly misguided.”

36:47And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest.

You will never attain righteousness until you give freely from what you love. Whatever you give, Allah knows it well.

3:92Ye will not attain unto piety until ye spend of that which ye love. And whatsoever ye spend, Allah is Aware thereof.
