Praying at Night
They rise from their beds as they call upon their Lord in fear and hope.
32:16Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them.
No soul knows what delights await them, a reward for what they used to do.
32:17No soul knoweth what is kept hid for them of joy, as a reward for what they used to do.
We used to call upon Him before
52:28Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful.
you wrapped in your cloak
73:1O thou wrapped up in thy raiment!
Stand through the night in prayer, except for a little
73:2Keep vigil the night long, save a little -
Half the night, or a little less
73:3A half thereof, or abate a little thereof
Or a little more, and recite the Quran with measured rhythm.
73:4Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure,
We are about to place upon you a weighty word.
73:5For we shall charge thee with a word of weight.
Truly, night prayer leaves a deeper imprint and is more upright in speech.
73:6Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain.
By day, you are occupied with long engagements.
73:7Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business.
So, remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with full devotion.
73:8So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion -
