Self-Inflicted full verses back to top

Whoever disbelieves, his disbelief is against him.

Allah does not wrong people, but they wrong themselves.

They only destroy their own souls, though they do not realize it.

Indeed, We have warned you of a punishment near at hand. On the Day a person will see what their hands have sent ahead, and the disbeliever will cry, “Oh, if only I were dust!”

Avoid both open and hidden sins. Those who commit wrongdoing will be repaid for what they have earned.

They will call out, “Were we not with you?” The believers will reply, “Yes, but you deceived yourselves, you waited, you doubted, and false hopes deluded you, until Allah’s command arrived.

And Satan will say when the matter is settled, “Allah gave you a true promise, but I deceived you. I had no authority over you except to invite, and you responded. So do not blame me, blame yourselves.

So, We seized each of them for their sins, some by storm, some by blast, some by the earth swallowing them, and some by drowning. Allah did not wrong them; they wronged themselves.

On that Day, one will flee from his brother.

And his mother and father.

And his spouse and children.

Each person, on that Day, will have enough concern for himself.

So, they will confess their sins, away with the people of the Blaze.

If only the wrongdoers could see the punishment awaiting them, they would realize that all power belongs to Allah

If Only full verses back to top

When those who were followed disown their followers, and all ties between them are severed

If only we had another chance, we would be among the believers.

Surely in this is a sign, but most of them do not believe.

And those who followed will say, “No, it was your scheming, night and day, commanding us to disbelieve in Allah and set up equals with Him.” They will all hide their regret when they see the punishment. And We will place shackles around the necks of the disbelievers. Will they be repaid for anything but what they used to do?

The followers will cry, 'If only we had another chance, we would abandon them as they have abandoned us!' Thus does Allah show them their deeds as regrets.

Or lest you say, “Had the Book been sent to us, we would have been better guided than them.”

They will cry, “Oh, if only we had obeyed Allah, and obeyed the Messenger!”

And they will say, “If only we had listened or used our reason, we would not be among the people of the Fire.”

And Hell is brought forth. On that Day, man will remember, but what good will remembrance do him then?

He will say, “Oh, if only I had prepared for my life!”

On that Day, none will punish as He punishes

And none will bind as He binds.

Lest a soul should say, "Woe to me for neglecting Allah’s commands and being among the mockers."

Or say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous."

Lest a soul should say, "Woe to me for neglecting Allah’s commands and being among the mockers."

Or say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous."

Or say when seeing the punishment, "If only I had another chance, I would be among the doers of good."

But My signs came to you, and you denied them, turned away in arrogance, and were among the disbelievers.

Seeing Hell full verses back to top

They will not believe until they see the painful punishment.

If even a breath of your Lord’s punishment touches them, they will cry, “Woe to us! We were wrongdoers.”

When they saw Our punishment, they cried, "We believe in Allah alone and reject what we had been associating with Him!"

But their faith was of no benefit once they witnessed Our punishment. This has always been Allah’s way with His servants; the disbelievers were utterly lost.

If every wrongdoer possessed all the wealth on earth, they would offer it as ransom. They will hide their regret when they see the punishment. Judgment will be passed with justice, and they will not be wronged.

On the Day when those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire: “Is this not the truth?” They will say, “Yes, by our Lord.”

Allah said, “Soon they’ll regret it.”

Wish to Return full verses back to top

Say, “If the punishment were to come suddenly or openly, would anyone be destroyed except the wrongdoers?”

Whoever Allah allows to stray will have no protector after Him. You will see the wrongdoers saying, “Is there a way back?”

If only you could see when they are made to stand before the Fire! They will cry, “If only we could return, we would never deny our Lord’s signs, and we would be believers.”

Leaders full verses back to top

Those who disbelieve will say, “Our Lord, show us those who led us astray, whether jinn or humans, so we may trample them underfoot and make them the lowest of the low.”

Here is a crowd rushing in with you, no welcome for them!

“They will cry out: ‘No! You are the ones unwelcome; you brought this fate upon us.

And they will say, “Our Lord, we followed our leaders and elders, and they led us astray from the path.”

“Our Lord, double the punishment for them, and curse them with a mighty curse!”

The Warned full verses back to top

But if only you could see when they stand before their Lord! He will ask, “Is this not the truth?” They will reply, “Yes, by our Lord!”

They will say, “Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment.”

“This is the Day of Separation, which you used to deny.”

It nearly bursts with fury. Every time a group is thrown in, its keepers will ask, “Did no warner come to you?”

They will say, “Yes, a warner did come, but we denied and said, ‘Allah has revealed nothing, you are only in great error.’”

They will cry out, “Our Lord, take us out, we’ll do good, not what we used to do!” But didn’t We give you long enough to take heed, and didn’t a warner come to you?

Punishment Shared full verses back to top

Until, when he comes to Us, he says, “If only there were a distance between me and you, as great as the east and west, what a miserable companion!”

But it will not benefit you today, for you were unjust, and together you will share the punishment.

Infighting full verses back to top

He will say, “Enter the Fire among nations before you, of jinn and humans.” Every time a new group enters, it curses the previous one. When all are gathered, the last will say of the first, “Our Lord, they led us astray, so give them double punishment.” He will say, “Each will have double, but you do not realize it.”

The first will say to the last, “You were no better than us, so taste the punishment for what you earned.”

“What’s wrong with you? Why don’t you help each other?”

Instead, on that Day, they will surrender.

They will turn to one another, accusing each other.

They will say, “You used to come at us from the right.”

The others will reply, “You yourselves were not believers.

We had no power over you; you were a rebellious people.

We led you astray, for we ourselves were astray.”

When they argue in the Fire, the weak will say to the arrogant, "We followed you, can you relieve us from any part of the Fire?"

They will cry, "Why do we not see those we counted among the wicked?"

"Did we mock them wrongly, or have our eyes failed to find them?"

On that Day, friends will become enemies to one another, except for the righteous.

Indeed, this is the truth, the wrangling of the people of the Fire.

No Regret full verses back to top

Do they not realize they will be resurrected

On a tremendous Day

We destroyed generations before you when they wronged themselves. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they refused to believe. This is how We repay the wicked.

But why did they not humble themselves when Our punishment came? Instead, their hearts hardened, and Satan made their deeds seem fair to them.

But no! What they concealed before has now been exposed. Even if they were sent back, they would return to their old ways, for they are truly liars.

They insisted, “There is nothing beyond this life; we will never be resurrected.”
