Past Prophets

Humanity was once a single community, but then they differed. So Allah sent prophets as bearers of good news and warners, and revealed to them the Scripture in truth to judge between people in their disputes, so that people would have no excuse before Allah. Yet none disputed it except those who had received it, after clear proofs had come to them, out of jealousy. Then Allah, by His grace, guided the believers to the truth regarding those disputes. Those who believe and reform will have no fear, nor will they grieve.

2:213Mankind were one community, and Allah sent (unto them) prophets as bearers of good tidings and as warners, and revealed therewith the Scripture with the truth that it might judge between mankind concerning that wherein they differed. And only those unto whom (the Scripture) was given differed concerning it, after clear proofs had come unto them, through hatred one of another. And Allah by His Will guided those who believe unto the truth of that concerning which they differed. Allah guideth whom He will unto a straight path.

4:165Messengers of good cheer and of warning, in order that mankind might have no argument against Allah after the messengers. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise.

6:48We send not the messengers save as bearers of good news and warners. Whoso believeth and doeth right, there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

18:56We send not the messengers save as bearers of good news and warners. Those who disbelieve contend with falsehood in order to refute the Truth thereby. And they take Our revelations and that wherewith they are threatened as a jest.

57:25We verily sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and revealed with them the Scripture and the Balance, that mankind may observe right measure; and He revealed iron, wherein is mighty power and (many) uses for mankind, and that Allah may know him who helpeth Him and His messengers, though unseen. Lo! Allah is Strong, Almighty.

These are the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favour, among the descendants of Adam, those We carried with Noah, the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and those We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration, weeping.

19:58These are they unto whom Allah showed favour from among the prophets, of the seed of Adam and of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Noah, and of the seed of Abraham and Israel, and from among those whom We guided and chose. When the revelations of the Beneficent were recited unto them, they fell down, adoring and weeping.

We guided Noah. And among his descendants were David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron

6:84And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob; each of them We guided; and Noah did We guide aforetime; and of his seed (We guided) David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the good.

But is the duty of messengers anything except clear delivery?

16:35And the idolaters say: Had Allah willed, we had not worshipped aught beside Him, we and our fathers, nor had we forbidden aught without (command from) Him. Even so did those before them. Are the messengers charged with aught save plain conveyance (of the message)?
