Creation full verses back to top
We had already made a covenant with Adam, but he forgot, and We found no resolve in him.
And when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create a human being from refined clay, shaped from dust, clay or darkened mud,”
He created him from dust, then said to him, ‘Be,’ and he was.
Naming Animals full verses back to top
Then He taught Adam the names of all things and presented them to the angels, saying, 'Tell Me their names if you are truthful.'
They responded, 'Glory be to You! We have no knowledge except what You have taught us.
Allah said, 'O Adam, inform them of their names.' When Adam did so, Allah declared, 'Did I not tell you that I know the unseen of the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you conceal?'
Bowing to Adam full verses back to top
And when We commanded the angels, 'Bow before Adam,' they all obeyed except Iblis, who refused and acted arrogantly, becoming one of the disbelievers.
Allah said, "O Iblis, what prevented you from prostrating to what I created with My own hands? Were you too proud, or were you among the exalted?"
He said, “Do You see this one whom You have honoured above me? If You delay me until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely lead his descendants astray, except a few.”
He was of the jinn and defied his Lord’s command. Will you then take him and his descendants as allies instead of Me, though they are your enemies? What a miserable exchange for the wrongdoers!
Iblis said, "By Your might, I will surely mislead them all."
"Except Your chosen servants."
Allah said, "The truth is what I say."
"I will fill Hell with you and all who follow you."
Allah said, “This is the straight path leading to Me.”
“You will have no authority over My servants, except those who willingly follow you in error.”
Adam and his Wife - The Fall full verses back to top
We said, “O Adam, this is an enemy to you and your wife, do not let him drive you from Paradise, or you will suffer.”
We said, 'O Adam, dwell in Paradise, you and your spouse, and enjoy its bounty freely, but do not approach this tree, lest you become wrongdoers.'
“Here, you will neither go hungry nor be unclothed.”
“Nor will you thirst or suffer from the sun’s heat.”
But Satan whispered to him, saying, “Shall I show you the tree of eternity and a kingdom that never fades?”
Then Satan whispered to them, revealing what had been hidden of their nakedness. He said, “Your Lord only forbade this tree to keep you from becoming angels or attaining immortality.”
And he swore to them, “I am truly your sincere advisor.”
Then Satan caused them to slip and led them out of their blissful state. We said, 'Descend as enemies to one another, and on earth you will have a dwelling and provision for a time.'
So, they both ate from it, and their nakedness became apparent to them, and they began covering themselves with leaves from Paradise. Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred.
He said, “Descend, all of you, as enemies to one another. But when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows it will neither go astray nor suffer.”
So, he deceived them. When they tasted the tree, their nakedness became exposed, and they began covering themselves with leaves from the Garden. Their Lord called to them, “Did I not forbid you from this tree and tell you that Satan is your sworn enemy?”
They said, “Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and show mercy, we will surely be among the lost.”
He said, “Descend, as enemies to one another. On earth, you will have a dwelling and provision for a time.”
He said, “There you will live, there you will die, and from it, you will be brought forth.”
We said, 'Descend from here, all of you. But when guidance comes to you from Me, those who follow it will have no fear, nor will they grieve.
O children of Adam! We have provided you with garments to cover your nakedness and as adornment. But the garment of righteousness is best. This is one of Allah’s signs, so that you may reflect.
Indeed, Allah chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran above all people
O children of Adam! Do not let Satan deceive you as he did your parents, driving them out of the Garden, stripping them of their garments to expose their nakedness.
