Abrogating Verses

Have you considered al-Lat and al-Uzza

53:19Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza

And Manat, the third, the other one?

53:20And Manat, the third, the other?

Are you to have the males, and He the females?

53:21Are yours the males and His the females?

What a skewed distribution!

53:22That indeed were an unfair division!

These are nothing but names you and your ancestors have invented. Allah has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but assumptions and desires. Though guidance has already come to them from their Lord.

53:23They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them.
